Order forms go out the beginning of the school year for Aldie Bobcat Spirit Wear. The children wear the
shirts on Friday to show their Aldie spirit! You do not have to buy or wear the shirts, it is optional. It is
customary for the Kindergarten students to receive one free shirt at the orientation from the PTA.
LEAP (Loudoun Education Alliance of Parents) taken from the school website)
The Loudoun Education Alliance of Parents (LEAP) is a non-partisan network that promotes interaction between parents, teachers, School Board members and members of the Loudoun County Public Schools Administrative Team. The mission and objectives of LEAP are promoted via monthly meetings held during the school year on the second Wednesday of the month. Meetings are held in rooms 102 A and 102 B at the LCPS Administration Building in Ashburn, Virginia. Discussion of agenda topics commences at 7:00 p.m. Each two-hour program features a panel discussion on topics of interest to parents and members of the community at large, followed by a Question and Answer session and an update from LCPS Superintendent Edgar B. Hatrick III. Delegates are elected from each Loudoun County Public School's PTA, PTO or PTSO group to attend the monthly LEAP meetings. In addition to delegates, members of the community are encouraged to attend LEAP meetings.
MSAAC (Minority Student Achievement Advisory Committee) Taken from the school website
The Minority Student Achievement Advisory Committee (MSAAC) is dedicated to work in partnership with the Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS), parents and community to further the academic, social and cultural development of every student and to ensure that the needs of all minority students are met. MSAAC supports School Board and staff initiatives, and parent efforts to ensure that our school community becomes culturally competent, providing the corner stone to ensure fair and equitable instruction to all LCPS students. We encourage the development of school cultures where every minority student is afforded the opportunity to achieve his or her full potential, feels welcome and is recognized as an integral member of the student body. SEAC (Special Education Advisory Committee) - Taken from school website:
Composed of parents, educators, administrators, business representatives, and other interested community groups concerned with the education of students with disabilities. The purposes of the committee are as follows: Advise the local school system of the needs in the education of children with disabilities. Assist the local school system in the development of long-range plans which will provide needed services for children with disabilities. Submit periodic reports and recommendations regarding the education of children with disabilities to the local school board. Review annually the school system’s updated special education plan and application for federal funding.
SEAC has focused on Research-Based Initiatives and Instructional Offerings for Students with Special Needs; Staff Development Opportunities for All Staff; Reading Approaches and Alternatives for Students with Special Needs.
The SEAC continues to focus on the education for students who are Gifted and Talented as well as Special Education and on the impact of the No Child Left Behind regulations on providing services to students with disabilities.
Odyssey of the Mind (Taken from OOTM website)
An international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and World level. Thousands of teams from throughout the U.S. and from about 25 other countries participate in the program. Our Odyssey of the Mind coordinator will go over more details concerning how things will work at our school during Back to School Night.
